I create social visuals and promotion plans for the AP’s main social media accounts. I’ve worked on promotion and social visuals for in-depth explanatory content, breaking news, investigations, and more. During the 2024 U.S. elections, I was part of the audience planning team and worked to create and solidify social visuals for election night coverage. I also designed the template used for our fact-checking social visuals.

Audience planning and on-location strategy

Another part of my role is developing in-depth promotion packages and crafting audience plans for our event coverage and enterprise stories. I work closely with reporting teams to create audience strategy throughout the story process. The projects have received honorable mentions and first prize in AP’s competitive Best of the Week contest.

I was selected as the audience engagement representative to cover the 2024 Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Leading up to the convention, I worked with the U.S. politics reporting team and editors to plan audience strategy and promotion plans.

The Sunday before the convention an assassination attempt was made on then-candidate Donald Trump. I was part of the audience team that sent push alerts, drafted social updates on all platforms and assisted with audience strategy as news developed. I shifted the audience strategy for the RNC to adapt to the news cycle, as well as focused on optimizing our developing coverage.

At the RNC, I focused on finding notable angles for digital audiences, including reporting an AP asks video. I managed the homepage curation, optimized SEO for stories and drafted social language around notable moments at the convention.

Reddit Strategy

As an audience engagement editor at the AP, I’ve taken the lead in establishing the company’s presence and strategy on Reddit. By experimenting with the platform, I’ve developed new workflows for our team and outlined key priorities for our presence on Reddit, as well as hosted newsroom trainings for both audience editors and reporters.

I have formed relationships with Reddit moderators and focus on brand recognition and engaging with audiences on Reddit through AP’s Reddit Ask Me Anything (AMAs). I’ve been able to find new ways to bring Reddit audiences to AP’s homepage, including turning Reddit AMAs into stories on site. The effort expanded the reach of AP’s immigration coverage and recieved an honorable mention for “AP’s Best of the Week.”

Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting

The Pulitzer Center is a non-profit leader in providing grants and supporting independent international journalism. As an intern, I created visuals for event promotion planning as well as end of year reports.
